Oregon Coast Vacation

For Spring Break we loaded up and headed to the Oregon Coast. During the academic quarter we never go anywhere because I am usually spending my weekends studying, so it was nice to get out of town! I took a few days off of work and we went to Portland to visit my mom, and then the next day we headed to Nehalem to spend a long weekend at my Aunt Cammy and Uncle Bob's house.

Mike took the dogs on Saturday and went his own way to the coast from Portland, which included an elk feeding station visit and a stop at the Rogue Brewery in Astoria. Mom, Hunter and I went the other way and decided to go through Tillamook. First stop was the Blue Heron Cheese Factory.

Hunter enjoyed the petting zoo, until the sheep on the right, the brown one, BAHHH'd really loud! Then he just started backing up..lol. It was funny.
He didn't think the chickens were a big deal because we already have those!
Moo!
Mom got in on the fun.
This photo makes me laugh - not only am I an "ass" (please keep your comments to yourself), but look at Hunter running around in the background. HA!
Such a gorgeous day!
Next stop was the Tillamook Cheese Factory! My favorite!
Hunter's first Tillamook Ice Cream cone - chocolate of course!
I think he liked it....
You should have seen his jacket - that's where the rest of the ice cream cone went, other than his tummy!
Sorry this isn't straight - everyone tilt your head to the right!
Just sittin' with Grandma, enjoying some ice cream. Grandma gave him a bite of her mint chocolate chip, he spat it out...lol.
Ca-UTE!
We had a great time!
Next stop was Aunt Cammy and Uncle Bobs house. Mom and I made an awesome Chinese dinner and we just relaxed that evening. Sunday morning we all loaded up and went to Seaside. Hunter had to cruise the grounds first.
...and open his present from Aunt Cammy and Uncle Bob.
Puppies! They had fun too!
Had to help Aunt Cammy feed the hummingbirds before we left too. So many chores!
LOVE the coast! Mom and Aunt Cammy spotted some whales, I didn't see any - bummer!

First stop in Seaside, the beach, of course! Hunter's first time on the coast - well, we came here when he was about 9 months old but I don't count that. He didn't even get out of the stroller because he slept through it!
So excited!
RUN!
He had so much fun playing with Grandma Chris!
"C'mon everyone!"

So, I am stupid, I wore shoes to the coast that probably shouldn't have gotten wet. What was I thinking!?!? DUH! But Grandma Chris was a sport and ran out into the waves with Hunter, many, many, many times. ;)

This one is a little shaky, but the last 10 seconds make it worth it!
I realize most of these photos and videos are pretty much the same, but he is so cute I had to post them all. Once again, it's my blog, I can do what I want to! :)

Look at that smile! He was wet and covered in sand from head to toe!
He also loved playing in the sand. Grandma Toni sent us some great beach toys last year, so he was busy shoveling and throwing sand all over.

After playing for a while he literally just laid down like he was going to just go to sleep! LOL! He was pretty tuckered out. Plus, he started getting sand in his mouth and eyes and that was getting old.
I just had to do it! Looks pretty good huh?
Love my boys! We had a wonderful time in Seaside at the beach!
We stopped at a few spots and were going to go out to lunch that day, but Hunter crashed in the car. So we went home and just sat outside and soaked up the sun! It was FANTASTIC! Snacking on Tillamook cheese, fresh smoked salmon with a gin & tonic in my hand - hello fabulous! Oh yeah, not to mention hanging out with my family!

After the nap Hunter was recharged and ready to go! So we got out the washable paints (thanks Grandma Chris, but we are fine if those don't become a regular present. :) HA!) Anyhoo, he had a great time playing around with those!

It's fun to wear Mom's flip flops through the paint. And yes, I had on flip flops, AND shorts!!!
Unfortunately that evening Mom had to head back to Portland to go to work the next day. But we stayed another couple of days. Not a bad view huh?
Jammies! Checking out the sunset with Mom.
On Monday Mike, Hunter and I headed to the beach again. This time in Manzanita. Aunt Cammy and Uncle Bob babysat the dogs for us. We also went for a drive along 101 to see the boats on the jetty's. Have I mentioned how gorgeous the weather was all weekend?!?!
My boys.
If only my arms were a little longer!
Mom learned a few things from the coast trip the day before. First, wear your tennis shoes - or any other shoe you don't care gets wet. Second, play in the sand BEFORE you play in the water! This whole Mom-thing is a learn as you go process!

We had so much fun playing in the waves! I kept saying, "here it comes!" and then Hunter would repeat me. He also got confused when I would talk about the "waves," because I would find him waving at the waves. LOL! HE IS SO CUTE!
It was actually pretty warm - or by this point my feet were numb - so we ditched our shoes and socks! Too bad the camera battery died at this point too!
Aunt Cammy BBQ'd steakes Monday evening, which hit the spot! And then we just chilled and watched some TV that evening. We were all pretty tired, it had been a busy weekend!

Hunter just chillin' on Aunt Cammy's lap. I think the frosted covered animal crackers made it an easy decision for Hunter as to where to park it for the evening!
He also kept rearranging all of their books and magazines. Yes, that is my son trying to crawl into the coffee table.

Tuesday morning we woke up to a very rainy day! So we timed our trip just perfect! We went up 101 to Puyallup to stop at Steven and Cara's house for lunch and to rest. We got home Tuesday evening and I am still finding sand everywhere! :)

We had a wonderful time! Thank you to Mom, Aunt Cammy and Uncle Bob for being such gracious hosts! We can't wait to come back!
