Remodeling Updates

Over the summer (and I think last spring even) Mike has been busy with some remodeling projects. Do you remember when these kind of updates were the only thing I had to blog about? LOL. Our life was at Home Depot...oh memories.

First, Mike put the mantle up above our wood stove. He got some really great wood slabs from his Grandpa that he was able to use. We installed the wood stove a few years ago and just haven't gotten around to the mantle, but I thought I would take you on a trip down Memory Lane.

Before - this was right after we moved in (around Sept. 2008) and tore out all that nasty teal shag carpeting in the entire house. (Nice photo-bomb Lacey!)

Hearth and new floors installed later that fall. We put in the wood stove and new windows shortly after this.
AFTER! I LOVE the mantle! Mike did such an amazing job. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Project #2 - Mike put in a front porch last month.

Here is the front of our house when we moved in 5 years ago.

This is our house earlier this summer. Over the last few years we have ripped out all the abor vitae and planted flowers, bulbs, grass, etc.
AFTER! I love the porch, new light fixture and door handle. Also, on the far left he had to raise the top of the porch a little to cover up the meter. BUT - he made it into a little bench where you can take the top off and store our hoses and stuff under there. The water spiket is right next to the meter.

Pickle's turn for a photo-bomb.
Well, those are just a couple of the things we (Mike) has been working on. Every summer our goal is to paint the house, we hate how dark it is. But it seems to get pushed down the list, so maybe next year. Mike is always got a project up his sleeve, but really it is just odds and ends at this point. We still have our master bedroom and bathroom to remodel, but we will get there. So glad I have such a handy and hardworking husband!
