Well, we did it. We have two new additions to welcome to the family.
Not what you thought I was going to say, huh? LOL! Yup, we have two new chickens! Mike has been busy the last couple of weeks building the tractor-coup. This will be great, because we move it every few days or so and the chickens thatch and fertilize that area. Not too mention all the bugs they eat! We should start getting some farm fresh eggs this fall!
My friend Amy gave us a couple of her chickens. She got quite a few chicks last spring thinking not all of them would make - yup, they all made it.
Here we are at Amy's house. Her daughter, Ally, and Hunter go to school together and are best buddies! I am pretty sure we are going to have to get one of these Jeeps, he LOVED it! Camo color of course.
Making sure the chickens are getting settled in. He is so cute, constantly flapping his arms and saying "Bock Bock Bock!" I have to say, Mike did a really nice job on the coup, don't ya think! Both sides of the coup come off so we can clean it easily. The nesting box is on the back side with its own lid, so we can easily grab the eggs.
The next day we decided to introduce the girl's to the chickens! Lacey wouldn't move! She was pointing the whole time. I guess that is her job, she is half Pointer, but still, it was funny! "There is a bird right there, right there-just in case you can't see it!" Lol. It kind of looks like Pickle is pointing in this picture too...ha!
On Sunday we ventured to Cle Elum and checked out the Farmer's Market. We stopped at the bakery for a coffee and snack (a.k.a cookies). Hunter loves cookies - if you can't tell by the smile on his face. We then went for a walk on the Iron Horse trail, which runs all the way through Washington. We didn't walk that far though!
We had a great weekend and the chickens seem to be settling in. They were a little noisy this morning, but no calls from the neighbors yet. YAY! It would probably help if Mike didn't let them out at 5:45 a.m.!
