YAY! We are done!

We are finally done with the floors...for the most part. We still have the trim to do and some grouting and sealing with the heart...but I am saying we are done! Here are some before and after pics. Keep in mind, the before pics were on "move-in" day last summer, so please disregard all our stuff!

The pic above is our dining room. We are thinking about connecting a book shelf, about 2 or 3 feet high, between that pole and the wall off to the right...just so it isn't such a "random" pole in the middle of the room! We are also going to switch out that window to the right into french doors to lead to the patio. Summer project...

We are going to knock out the closet behind the couch. It will open up the kitchen into the living room. We will make it an island with a bar on the side facing the living room with a few chairs. Right now the hot water tank and furnace are in the closet. So this spring (when we can go without heat for a day or two!) we will route all that out to the garage and knock it all out. I am pretty excited, because I could really use more counter and cabinet space in the kitchen!

You can see the hearth to the left. That is where the wood stove will go. We will be getting and installing it next week.
We are going furniture shopping in the next week or two! I am pretty excited!

Like I said, the next project is finishing the hearth (grouting, putting up a mantle, etc.) and installing the wood stove. But after that we are taking a break! At least until April or so when it warms up and we can start knocking out that wall. We are getting pretty excited though, the house is really starting to come together!
