We have been working so hard the last couple of weeks. We have about 90% of the flooring down, but ran out of materials..ugh. So we are headed to Home Depot. But in the meantime we decided to work on the hearth. We got some really cool slate stone and have been elbow deep in mortar and grout!
Here are some before pics. I forgot to take one before we ripped up the carpet.

As you can see, to the left, we only have a small strip of flooring to finish. We put the backerboard up in the corner on the walls, 4 feet high, and will put a mantle on top. We will be putting the slate tiles on the wall this weekend, after the floor drys.
Here is a closer look at the slate hearth. The wood stove will sit just to the left of Mike's hand. We are pretty excited about it!

We hope to have most of this done this weekend! Then, once I can finally put the furniture back, I will post more pictures of the floor and the entire living room.
