Michelle Renee visits Ellensburg

Earlier this week I got the opportunity to meet an amazing woman, Michelle Renee. She was a keynote speaker on campus and I was responsible for the marketing and media relations for the event.

In November of 2000, her and her daughter (pictured below, center) were at home when three masked gunmen broke into her home and held them hostage for 14 hours. At the time, Michelle was a VP at a bank. She was forced to rob the bank she worked at while her and her daughter were taped with explosives. She robbed the bank and the robbers fled. Later the robbers were arrested and are all now serving life sentences. Michelle now tours the country talking about her story, as well as talking about how to learn to cope and deal with trauma.
