Whew....busy weekend! Mike and I worked the entire weekend in the carport. After moving the water heater, furnace and heat pump into the carport, we had to enclose and insulate it so all the equipment would be nice and warm this winter. So we framed out the entire area and insulated all the walls and ceiling. Umm...not so fun playing with insulation on a 100-degree weekend! But we pulled through and got it done. Now if it snows tomorrow we are covered...snow isn't sounding too bad right now!
Before
I forgot to take a pic before we framed the wall. But as you can see the carport is FILLED with stuff! There was a lot of leftover materials from our many projects this last year. So the first step was clearing all this out.

Disaster!

After!

It was hard work, but it is so nice to get all that stuff out! The carport was such an eye-sore to drive up to when coming home. We have a storage shed in the back of our property that we moved a lot of stuff too, and then a lot of things went to the dump. It was great to finally clean all of it out!

We still have a little work to do. We need to put in insulation and plywood in that small piece on the right. As you can see, to the right, there is a window. That is one of the spare bedrooms. So we had to enclose the carport behind that window, or move the window. Hmm...which sounds easier!?!? We also are going to move our old, cruddy front door out here and get a new one for the house. But entry doors are SUPER spendy! So that one might wait until later this summer.
We are just going to leave the plywood for now. Until next year when we re-paint the house, we will put new siding on it.
Inside
Mike's new "tinking around" room.
This is to the right of the door. As you can see, we still have some plywood to put up to keep the insulation in place.

To the left we were able to use some of the old cabinets that were leftover from the kitchen remodel. We still need to get more plywood so he has a counter to work on.

It was a long, hot weekend. But it is really nice to have all of this done. Now we can start focusing on the inside and finish the kitchen. We are taking a long weekend this week and heading out of town to go camping and HAVE SOME FUN!
Wow! It looks great!
