Britney Spears "likes" Ellensburg - no joke

So I have a funny story. Last week Britney Spears turned 30. And yes, I am a closet Britney Spears fan, more the earlier stuff than anything she has put out recently, but she is one that definitely makes me turn it up loud and rock out...and I am pretty sure I have a song or two on my iPod.

Ok, I digress. Anyhoo, last week I was sent a video that a CWU student made wishing her a happy 30th birthday and I know many of the students in this video. Check it out - CWU wishes Britney Happy Birthday. I posted it to the Facebook page I manage at work on Friday - CWU Hype Facebook page. Yes, I get to play on Facebook for work...kind of fun. I post all sorts of info on campus events and programs throughout the day. Anyway, as a Britney fan I thought his student deserved a shout out - plus, it is was just kind of fun and different from my normal posts.

I got to work this morning, Monday, and found out Britney Spears saw the video! Yeah, no kidding! She even posted it to her website - Britney Spears website and wrote on Twitter, "Thanks y'all, now go back to studying. LOL." The video went from having 11,000 views on Friday to over 77,000 as of this morning!

Anyway, since we aren't sure how she saw the video I would like to think she follows my work Facebook page. Which means, inadvertently, I know Britney Spears - *based on the theory of 6 degrees of separation, but recently I saw a news story that it is now like 4.5 degrees of separation because of Facebook. CASE IN POINT!

So that's my story. Maybe she will come to our fine little town of Ellensburg now that she is a fan. I am pushing it as Homecoming 2012 entertainment....but apparently there is a stupid thing called budget. Maybe she would do a pro-bono show for us poor folk? Hmmm...stay tuned.
