Our first Childbirth Prep class

Well Wednesday night Mike and I went to the hospital for our first Childbirth Preparation class. The class was pretty full, about 20 people or so. Our teacher's name is Katie and she has been an OB nurse for 15 years. She is pretty animated and loud, but I guess you have to be when it comes to these topics. But I think I am going to like her.

The first thing we did was go around the room, introduce ourselves, give our due date and tell the group something unexpected about our pregnancies. It was really interesting to hear how many people said their pregnancies were unexpected...lol...ooops! There was also a couple that said they had been trying for 4 years and finally gave up and surprise! They got pregnant. It was sweet. I said I was surprised I have had every pregnancy symptom out there...which is true - many ladies nodded there head at that one. Then the girl next to me said she was surprised she hadn't had any symptoms at all...I almost smacked her...

The class lasts 2 hours and goes for 6 weeks. Already there has been a lot of great info. I have had horrible acid reflux and it was nice to find out what really causes that. There are many other things I have been experiencing too and it was neat to know why they happen, and not just chalk it up to being pregnant.

We then got on the floor and Mike and the other husbands/partners learned how to massage us during delivery, which was kind of fun! They were also all asked to lay down on the floor in the correct position during labor and I was so proud, Mike was only one of two guys that got it right!! Gold star!!

Next week is our breastfeeding class, so I am sure I will have plenty of stories!
