Mindy helps produce a TV show!

At work we came up with a great idea, why not partner with our on-campus TV station, KCWU-Channel 15, to create a show promoting our department, Campus Life? This idea started last fall and I quickly took this challenge head-on. I hired a CWU student who is a broadcasting journalism major, named Amber Benoit. The last two quarters we have been working really hard producing a 30-minute TV show with the goal to educate viewers on what areas comprise Campus Life, what we do and who we are. We put out a printed publication every quarter, called "Hype," that does this very thing, so it really was bringing this printed piece to life! We also wanted to make sure it was entertaining and will keep people watching, so it is mixed with styles from MTV "Cribs," VHI "Pop Up Video," and a dash of "TMZ." The show, "HYPE Live," will now air every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 5 and 10 p.m. on Channel 15, which is available on cable throughout the entire county!

It has been a really fun and eye-opening experience. I never knew how much was involved in creating a TV show! It has also been a great experience for our students. Amber is the host of "HYPE Live" and one of our other students did all the graphic design work for the show. A student with Channel 15 edited all the content too. All around it has been a great experience! Plus, I fulfill one of my obligations as the Campus Life marketing gal to get the word out about our department!

Below is one of our posters, along with a couple stories from the on-campus and local newspapers. We are hosting a premier party and first ever screening tonight at the Student Union Theatre. Planning an event like this at the same time has been stressful, but super fun too! We are estimating 300 people! So I am nervous but also super excited to show off all the hard work! It is going to be great. I will take pics tonight and post them later. I will also try to figure out how to get a copy of the show uploaded to the blog. AND YES, I do have a starring role in the show!!!

Ok, wish me luck! Can't wait for all of you to be able to see the show too!!
