We took it to the mechanic, Chad, and he didn't have good news. After he gave me a Mechanics 101 class we both agreed...she was gone. The timing belt broke and chances are pretty good it broke a lot of valves and other things along with it. Chad explained it much better. He told me the timing belt should be changed every 60 to 90,000 miles (make a note for yourself). I asked him who I should call and yell at for not telling me to change it...he said it is in the owner's manual. Umm...yeah, WHO READS THE OWNER'S MANUAL!
The Hyundai has been a great car for the last 6 years. Those of you that know me well have grown to love the Hyundai just as I have. It has pretty much been around much of the United States, with memorable stops in Texas, Kansas to see the World's Largest Praire Dog and another stop in Arkansas to go camping...if you have ever been to Arkansas you know why this would be memorable...just to name few.
Anyhoo....we aren't sure what we are going to do yet. Mike and I are "carpooling", which Mike hates and I am not sure how long it will last...lol. Good thing it is getting to be really nice weather and I can just walk to work.
We will keep you posted. Please enjoy the picture of me saying goodbye to the Hyundai. Donations can be made to the "Mindy's new car" foundation. Please just let me know if you need our address.

OMG! I can't believe it. Weren't we just discussing it this weekend when you were here!?? WOW. Poor Mindy! I almost called to see if you guys got home ok, but figured you'd be napping!
ReplyDeleteHow sad! I bet Lacey's excited, though. She's been waiting for this day ever since the first window broke...
